Publications & Presentations
Dr. Matheny has 8 publications as primary author or co-author in peer-reviewed scientific journals, with multiple other manuscripts pending. Over the past 15 years, he has given numerous institutional, national, and international presentations on his various research interests and otolaryngologic topics. He has 4 granted patents in the European Community, 1 in Australia, and multiple patents-pending in the United States & Internationally for various surgically-implantable devices. Dr. Matheny is active on multiple national committees, and is assembling a clinically-integrated network of Otolaryngology practices on a state and national level to reduce healthcare costs while simultaneously improving patient care and patient outcomes. He is a designated product consultant, trainer, proctor, & speaker for several pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

PureRegen in Ethmoidectomy trial comparing a novel Pro-healing material to current substances used in Sinus Surgery, sponsored by BioRegen Biomedical

RESOLVE & RESOLVE II endoscopic grading panel evaluating a novel biodegradable, local drug-delivery device intended to treat intranasal polyposis in the office setting, sponsored by Intersect ENT

Propel-In-Office (PIO) trial evaluating the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of placement of a steroid-eluting biodegradable stent into the freshly operated ethmoid sinuses in the office setting several days after surgery as opposed to intraoperatively, sponsored by Intersect ENT.

Dr. Matheny was born in Miami, FL and grew up in Plano. After completion of his training, he & his family moved back to Plano where they currently reside.
